BUSSING INFORMATION

2024- 2025

The Central Point School District partners with First Student to provide bussing for eligible CPSD students. Transportation services will be provided for students to and from their neighborhood school, consistent with Oregon Law.

Students on approved inter-district transfers do not qualify for transportation outside the school district boundaries. Students on transfers are responsible to provide their own transportation; however, they may access existing bus stops with the district boundaries. To arrange to be added to an existing bus stop within the district boundary, contact your
school.

NOTICE: Bus stop locations, pick-up and drop-off times will be available on ParentVUE beginning August 28th.

BUSSING FAQ’S

Who is eligible for bussing?

Generally, elementary students who live more than one mile and secondary students who
live more than a mile-and-one-half mile from school qualify for bussing. Additionally,
the Oregon Department of Education has approved the district to provide
transportation for students living within those walking zone distances in certain
circumstances that would require the student to cross especially busy streets,
intersections, or railroad crossings. If you have questions about your eligibility for
bussing, contact the transportation department at 541.494.6930.

How do I find out my student’s bus stop location and times?

For student safety, bus stop locations and times will not be posted on the website this
year. Parents can find their student’s bussing information on ParentVUE. Bus stop
information will be available on ParentVUE beginning August 28th. If you do not
have a ParentVUE account, contact your school for a username and password. See the
bottom of the page for instructions on how to navigate ParentVUE to see your bussing information.

PLEASE NOTE:  Wednesday is late start for Scenic and Crater and early release for
Hanby Middle School and all elementary schools. Bus times are always one hour
different.

  • For Elementary and Hanby, the bus will deliver one hour earlier in the afternoon than the published times on these route sheets or in your ParentVUE.
  • For Scenic and Crater, the bus will pick students one hour later in the morning.

When should I be out waiting for the bus?

Students can expect the bus to arrive within a ten-minute window of their scheduled bus
time. Students should be at the stop five minutes before and wait at least five minutes
after their scheduled times. If a bus is consistently early or late, contact First Student at 541-494-6930.

How will we find out about changes, such as late buses, changing bus stop times, combined routes, etc…?

Like the information you receive from teachers and your school, transportation related
communication will come through Parent Square. Families should expect to get notice of
late bus arrivals in a timely manner via the Parent Square app and text message.

When can I expect transportation services to start once the school year begins?

New students to the district will request transportation as part of the registration process. Current students who experience a change in residence or who want to make a change to their current transportation schedule should initiate the change in their school.

Changes that allow a student to be added to an existing neighborhood bus stop can take up to 3-5 days. Often, since it does not require changing the actual bus route or bus stop times, it can be arranged much quicker.

Changes that involve adding a stop to an existing route and/or re-routing a bus are much more complicated because it impacts some or all of the stop times on that route. The route needs to be redeveloped and all families that are impacted by the change need to be notified to give them adequate time to make changes to their before or after school routines. Changes that require re-routing happen at the start of the school week and can take from 3-7 school days to implement.

How do we find out about changes due to inclement weather?

School delays and closures due to inclement weather are communicated to all families as
early as possible via Parent Square, school and district websites and social media. During the winter months the district occasionally enacts “snow routes” in some rural areas. Snow routes are enacted when conditions prohibit a bus to make it to stops in elevated areas of Gold Hill and Sams Valley. Notification of snow routes will come from the First Student via Parent Square.
